New aged care bills before federal parliament

July 29, 2022

The Aged Care and Other Legislation Amendment (Royal Commission Response No. 2) Bill 2021 (No. 2 Bill) lapsed before the Federal election.  On 27 July the government introduced two new bills:

  • Aged Care Amendment (Implementing Care Reform) Bill 2022 (Implementing Care Reform Bill)
  • Aged Care and Other Legislation Amendment (Royal Commission Response) Bill 2022 (Royal Commission Response Bill)

The Royal Commission Response Bill is an amended version of the 2021 No. 2 Bill.  We have set out the key changes in the Royal Commission Response Bill compared to the previous No. 2 Bill in a table you can find here.  As there are a number of areas which remain unchanged, please see our detailed review of the No. 2 Bill at our post here.

Thomson Geer will present a more detailed analysis on the changes and the political landscape in two special webinars next week.
