Thomson Geer's Corporate team has been strengthened with mergers and acquisitions and equity capital markets specialist David Church joining as a Partner in the Perth office.

David joins Thomson Geer from Hong Kong-based investment company Regent Pacific Group where he was General Counsel and Head of Mergers and Acquisitions for the group, overseeing investments and portfolio management of positions in the natural resources, healthcare and life sciences sectors globally.

Thomson Geer Chief Executive Partner Adrian Tembel said: "We are excited to welcome David to our growing Perth office. His expertise deepens our ability to work on complex and challenging matters in Western Australia."

David has worked on domestic and international corporate transactions as well as major international equity offerings for corporates and investment banks. He has more than 20 years’ experience in mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance in Australia, the UK, Europe and Asia with expertise across multiple sectors.

"I'm pleased to be returning to Perth and joining Thomson Geer and its highly regarded Corporate team," David said. "The team are among the best in the business and have a quality reputation for delivering for clients. I'm looking forward to working closely with them."

The Perth Corporate team was ranked in 2022 by Western Australia business publication Business News 2nd in Mergers and Acquisitions by deal volume, with 24 deals worth $2.2 billion, and 3rd in Equity Capital Markets by deal volume, with 36 deals worth $911 million.

The team has worked on some of Western Australia's most significant recent deals, including:

The team is also advising Japanese food and beverage giant Kirin Holdings Company, Limited on its recently announced proposed A$1.8 billion acquisition of Australian healthcare company Blackmores.

David becomes the Corporate team's eighth Partner in Perth.

David's appointment follows significant growth for Thomson Geer's Perth office, which since the beginning of 2023 has seen Partner Nicholas Creed join from Allens in March, as well as Energy and Resources Partners Paul Harley and Sarah O'Brien-Smith and the establishment of mining title management service TG Mining Title Services.
