Tiago has over thirteen years of experience in the construction, infrastructure, transport and energy sectors, advising principals, contractors, subcontractors and consultants on risk strategy, claim management and contract negotiation.

He is an experienced commercial litigator, who regularly represents national and multi-national contractors in all forms of dispute resolution processes, including Court proceedings, domestic and international arbitrations, expert determinations and adjudications under the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Act 2017 (QLD) and corresponding legislation in other jurisdictions. He holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Commercial Litigation, with academic distinction.

ACICA arbitration & appeal

Acting for Hansen Yuncken Pty Ltd in respect of an arbitration under the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration Rules and subsequent appeal to the Supreme Court of NSW NSW (Viasat Inc v Hansen Yuncken Pty Ltd 2024 NSWSC 1581).

Solar farm dispute

Advising a major contractor in respect of an arbitration under Resolution Institute Rules in connection with the development of a major solar power plant in Darlington Point, NSW.

ICC arbitration

Advising an international consultant in an arbitration under the International Chamber of Commerce Rules in connection with major upgrade works in a motorway in Sydney, NSW.

Expert determinations

Advising a head contractor in respect of multiple expert determinations under the GC-21 Contract concerning the redevelopment of public schools in Sydney, NSW.

Multiple adjudications

Acting for Acciona Infrastructure Australia Pty Ltd in respect of multiple adjudication claims in connection with the construction of the Sydney Light Rail and subsequent challenges in the Supreme Court of NSW , including Acciona Infrastructure Australia Pty Ltd v Holcim (Australia) Pty Limited [2020] NSWSC 1423 and Acciona Infrastructure Australia Pty Ltd v Chess Engineering Pty Ltd [2020] NSWSC 1423.
