Samantha has expertise in the health, aged care and retirement village industries and regularly acts for private and public hospital operators, Local Health Districts, not-for-profit organisations, aged care and retirement village operators, Primary Health Networks and Local Health Districts.  

She has a particular focus on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate structuring, commercial arrangements and regulatory advice.

During her time at Thomson Geer, she has worked on major projects and arrangements with both State and Commonwealth governments. Samantha frequently advises on regulatory issues relating to the Health Insurance Act, anti-bribery and prohibited practices, privacy, competition and national and health practitioner regulations.

Experience

Central Coast Local Health District

Advising the Central Coast Local Health District on its collaboration with the University of Newcastle, to construct a new Central Coast Clinical School and Research Institute at the Gosford Hospital campus, and enter into long term arrangements for medical research and collaboration relating to the clinical school.

St Vincent's Health Group

Acting for St Vincent's Health Group in its corporate structuring, including the consolidation of its NSW public health entities, consolidation of its aged care and retirement village operating entities, acquiring various aged care operating entities and consolidating those into its aged care corporate entity, consolidating its private hospital entities nationally.

Whiddons

Acting for, Whiddons, on the acquisition of Pioneer Aged Care and Retirement Village in Moree, and Fairview Aged Care in Mudgee. Whiddon has 21 aged care facilities, 13 retirement villages and 10 community care service hubs located across NSW.

Housing Plus

Assisting Housing Plus, a not for profit Tier 1 Community Housing Provider, on its successful bid to be part of Phase 2 of the NSW Government's Social and Affordable Housing Fund (SAHF2), and its participation in the Government's expansion of that program.
