Ray advises on intellectual property and technology legal issues, including intellectual property rights enforcement and protection, ICT procurement, and internet law. He also takes a keen interest in emerging technology law issues such as artificial intelligence, mobile technology, and the Internet of Things.
Ray regularly takes a lead position in advising the client's executive and board regarding relevant legal and strategic considerations, and works alongside client decision-makers in seeing commercial agreements through to completion.
Ray's drafting and negotiation skills, in often challenging circumstances, have been favourably received and commented on not only by his clients and instructions, but also by counterparties whom have appreciated his collaborative and "firm but fair" approach to achieving both commercial and legal outcomes.
Ray has also had a significant role in numerous disputes, acting for both applicants and respondents in Court proceedings in relation to intellectual property and regulatory claims. In each case, his prior information technology training has been a valuable contribution to the progression of a proceeding, particularly in the procurement, analysis, and preparation of affidavit evidence, and instructing experts and counsel regarding matters of evidence.
