Prior to joining Thomson Geer Jae was a partner at the Hong Kong office of Thomson Geer’s international partner firm Eversheds Sutherland.

Experience

Solar projects acquisition

Advising DWS (Deutsche Asset Management (Asia) Limited, CREF (China Renewable Energy Fund) and Apple, on the US$300 million acquisition and financing of solar projects (both ground-mounted and rooftop) and onshore wind projects throughout the PRC.

Solar deal of the year

Acting for Standard Chartered Bank and GuarantCo, on the project financing of the 28 MW Teknaf Solartech solar project in Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh. The project is the first utility-scale, grid-connected solar project in Bangladesh and won “Asia-Pacific Solar Deal of the Year” at the Infrastructure Journal awards.

Sustainable Development Capital

Advising Sustainable Development Capital Limited on the development and acquisition of a rooftop solar project portfolio in Vietnam with a Vietnamese-based developer, Shire Oak.

CGN New Energy

Acting for CGN New Energy on financing of the following projects: (i) acquisition from Actis of 600MW of onshore wind projects in Brazil (both under construction and operating) and a pipeline of 395 MW of onshore projects, (ii) acquisition from Enel of 540 MW of operating solar pv and wind projects in Brazil, and (iii) its bid for the construction of a 300 MW LNG Combined Cycle Plant at Kerawalapitiya, Sri Lanka.

Wind project

Advising Energy Development Corporation, on the US$320 million financing of a 150 MW wind project plant in Burgos, Ilocos Norte, the Philippines. The project was supported by Eksport Kredit Fonden, the Danish export credit agency and was the first wind project in the Philippines to qualify for that country’s FiT scheme.

Brookfield

Advised Brookfield, on its acquisitions of almost 200 MW of wind and solar assets in China.
