Areas of Expertise

Project Finance, Debt finance, renewables, energy & resources, Private markets, Restructuring & Insolvency

A former magic circle law firm Partner, Chris Bishop advises clients on their most complex matters.

He began his career primarily advising on structured secured finance transactions, including some of the largest secured lending and project finance transactions in the Asia-Pacific region.

Chris continues to advise private credit funds, banks and borrowers on project finance, real estate finance, secured lending, commodity pre-payment/offtake, distressed debt and restructuring transactions.  This includes acting as Australian counsel on secured, cross-border transactions.

In addition, Chris regularly advises clients on complex project structuring, investment, private company acquisitions and joint venture matters, with his clients seeking advice from initiation through to out-of-court dispute management.

Chris' skills and breadth of experience allow him to work with clients to develop innovative solutions and achieve their desired outcomes.  His attention to detail and experience in complex contractual negotiations ensure a sharp focus on driving matters forward and creating outcomes.

There are few lawyers in the Perth market with a magic circle pedigree and ability to successfully advise clients holistically in this way.  For this reason, Chris also acts as a strategic advisor/general counsel for small and mid-sized clients who don’t have a large in-house legal function, guiding them through unexpected situations or providing day-to-day best practice advice.
