Sylvia has expertise in a wide range of regulatory areas involving the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC), the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) SafeWork NSW, the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) and the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA)  among others, as well as compliance with private codes of conduct and the requirements of corporate governance more generally.

Sylvia's practice involves high stakes litigation in the Supreme Courts in different States of Australia and in the Federal Court. She has acted for a State Owned Corporation, Integral Energy (now known as Endeavour Energy) in relation to a critical IT disaster and the City of Sydney in its now famous IP litigation against Moses Obeid and Streetscape in relation to the Smartpole.

She has acted across her career for Deloitte in relation to a range of cases involving reputational and professional issues. She has acted in shareholder litigation involving listed and private companies and has advised in relation to corporate and capital markets matters. Sylvia has represented parties in contractual disputes, and litigation involving the Australian Consumer Law.

Sylvia has acted for a range of clients in relation to the Corporations Act including schemes of arrangement, prosecutions, the continuous disclosure regime and market integrity : ASIC v McPherson's Limited and Anor, Airtasker Limited [2021] NSWSC 629, DAC Finance (NSW/Qld) Pty Limited and others [2020] NSWSC 182, EcoBiotics Limited [2017] FCA 643, and Palladium Group Holdings Pty Ltd [2020] FCA 1123.
