John Buxton is a widely experienced lawyer who has acted in a range of different areas and with a special interest in professional disciplinary law. He has advised on ethics and professional disciplinary matters for a number of industry and professional groups and their members, most notably the ACT Law Society, who he has represented for many years.

John has appeared before tribunals and the courts in this field.

John also advises clients in Wills and estate planning generally as well as disputation, both for executors and claimants in family provision matters. He has been appointed by both the NSW and ACT Supreme Courts as, variously, administrator, trustee or solicitor in respect to litigated estate /trust matters. He has also appeared in matters of construction of Wills.

John has completed mediation courses both in Australia and London and has undertaken various mediations as mediator and appearing for a party.

Acting for a major US corporation in a Senate Enquiry into the aviation industry.

Pink batts Royal Commission

Acting for a Commonwealth Government Agency in the "pink batts" Royal Commission into the Home Insulation Program.

CSIRO

Advising CSIRO, and several ACT agencies, on a range of inquiries regarding employment, discrimination and related matters.

Foreign corporation

Acting for a foreign corporation in civil proceedings against the Commonwealth.

Defamation

Acting in defamation proceedings against newspapers and administrative law proceedings against the Commonwealth.
