Thomson Geer client NT Bullion exports first shipment of iron ore

June 25, 2021

Thomson Geer congratulates mining client NT Bullion on achieving a significant milestone with the loading and export of its first shipment of 30,000 tonnes of iron ore.

The ore is the first in the world where individual rocks were scanned using x-rays and lasers using technology adapted by NT Bullion. The system increases efficiency in mining and refining production by sorting higher grade ore from waste.

Thomson Geer has worked with NT Bullion for over two years helping it secure funding, acquire tenements and negotiate contracts and manage legal risk associated with NT Bullion bringing Francis Creek Mine into production.

“We’re excited to see NT Bullion load its first shipment of iron ore and congratulate the company on this significant achievement.  This is a great development for NT Bullion and the Northern Territory in general,” Thomson Geer Senior Associate Dan Stumm said.

“With iron ore prices so strong and NT Bullion now officially in production, they are well placed to expand into hard rock mining and ramp up their output.”

NT Bullion owns and operates the Frances Creek Mine, near Pine Creek, about 200km south of Darwin in the Northern Territory. The company has spent the past two years working to reopen and rehabilitate the mine which had been abandoned.
